2 June 2009
The cost of getting property price information across Scotland is now free from 1 June 2009.
This was announced by Registers of Scotland, the Government department who is responsible for registering different legal documents in Scotland. The two main registers are about the ownership of, and the rights over land and property.
Charges for ten more information services will also be reduced.
The reports area of RoS's information services need a lot of staff input so these fees cannot be reduced. However, these fees will increase by no more than £1.50.
Jim Mather, Minister for Enterprise, Energy and Tourism said:
"Registers of Scotland hold valuable information to help the public better understand the property market and get a realistic view of house and land prices."
