Young people in Scotland are guaranteed entitlement to a place in learning and training, as part of the Scottish Government's '16+ Learning Choices'.
The main elements of the scheme are:
- New Activity Agreements – Local authorities and their partners will improve the range of opportunities available to young people.
- Educational Maintenance Allowances – The Scottish Government will target this support to those from lower income backgrounds.
- Get Ready for Work – From 2010, those on this scheme will get a set allowance of £55 per week.
