This summer, J.P. Morgan's European Technology Centre (ETC) in Glasgow's International Financial Services District (IFSD) celebrates its tenth anniversary.
As the 20th century drew to a close, J.P. Morgan searched Europe, considering more than 30 locations for a regional technology centre. With operating costs around 40% less than London and a substantial talent pool, Glasgow was the logical choice.
The vision was "to be a world class software organisation" and the ETC has indeed become an important presence in the city and the Scottish economy, becoming the largest IT development operation outside of RBS and HBOS.
